The New York City Marathon will be in six weeks. Trying to train so as not to suffer
during the race. I hope it does not rain or get cold. My sciatica ( right butt down to
foot at side of shin) still bothers me. The only way I can manage to run is to warm up
good before running. I use Ben Gay Patch on my right foot side of shin and 2XU or
Zensah compression sleeves on both calves to ease the pain. For the first 2 to 3 miles
the side shin hurts followed by numbing then goes away somewhat My side butt area
also hurts at times. An old injury in high school days,(I believe) in my right front thigh
is causing all these. At any rate, am able to run but with a slow pace. I will be a "happy
camper" when I can run pain free. In the meantime, still on to walking, jogging and
running. How about you?
Hello there Mr Joe,
ReplyDeleteHave yet to confirm but I may just be cheering you from the sidelines on 4th Nov in NYC marathon. I suppose if you've done a race a few times, the novelty wears off. Hope to get my confirmed entry, so may even meet you there, or run in your dust. Any tips, pre-race routines etc, for the event?
Martin, you don't have to call me Mister. Joe or Lakay will suit me fine. That is strange, NYRR should have already sent all the confirmations to all entrants already. Any way, inform me of your plans. I can meet you at the airport. If you haven't booked your flight, Newark Int'l Airport, NJ is closer to us. JFK is okay too but further. Get here at least 2-3 days before so you can adjust to jet lag. Start to taper your runs at least 3 weeks before race day. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteGood on you Mang Joe, Yes I did get confirmed entry to NYC through travel agency. Am awaiting flight tickets. Thanks for your offer to pick up apo ngem adda met kasinsin ko dita new york. i'll be staying there for two days/ two nights, then visiting my sister in new hampshire also after the marathon.
ReplyDeletewould be nice to catch up before during after the race. am probably abt 70% ready so got some work to do to catch up on fitness.
have you got an email address for private messages?
thanks and see you.
M
That's great, you are already in. You can get in touch with me through my c/p, calling or texting. Texting is best. You can borrow your cousin's c/p when you get here. I'll be bring along mine during the marathon so I can look for you at the start area in Staten Island. I usually get to the start early and the marathon starts almost noontime. I opted for the no-baggage so I will get off fast at the finish probably. We can meet there if we finish abt the same time. Mine is about 5 hours if things turn out ok. Any way, I can call/text when I get to the finish. Also, am picking up my bib on Friday, Nov.2 at the Expo. May see you there. Whatever & whenever, just keep me informed. Take care and don't get an injury while catching up on your fitness. Better to be under-trained than over-trained. See you then.
DeleteSo sorry, I didn't include my email: isaley64@yahoo.com. Will give you my c/p # as soon as I get your mail. My best regards. Lakay J.
